Our Values

At Arms of Andes, we think that all we do should be done with the environment & our people in mind. We recognize that the clothing industry as a whole has often fallen foul to practices that are unethical and unsustainable, which is why we aim to be the most sustainable clothing brand, follow ethical production principles and ensure traceability of our products.

OUR VISION

To create high-performance clothing that drives sustainability in the fashion industry, and to inspire people to embrace an authentic, sustainable life outdoors.

OUR MISSION

Being present in every step, we are constantly looking for more sustainable options from the beginning to the end: raw material sourcing, supply chain, and the usage and disposal of products.

We are guided by the following principles

WE CARE ABOUT ALPACAS

Alpacas Roam Free

Alpacas thrive and produce the best fleece when they roam free in the mountains (they are often corralled at night for safety), so there are no industrial farming practices involved. Alpacas are raised in small herds, using traditional methods.

Gentle Shearing

Most alpaca are sheared by their owners using shearing scissors, which is generally less stressful for the animals. If mechanical shearing is used, shearers follow the national guidelines for humane practice.

Alpacas Receive The Care They Need

Alpacas are highly valued by their owners, so any injuries and illnesses are treated quickly. Annual shearing is important as it helps to keep alpacas healthy.

WE CARE ABOUT PEOPLE

Fair Price for Fleece

Raw fleece is purchased directly from the alpaca farmers, ensuring that they always receive the market rate.

Our Customers Come First

We design and make our products with the end user in mind: great fit, superior comfort and durability. If you do have a question, or an issue with a purchase, we are here to help, with personalized customer service from our committed team.

Equal Opportunities For All

We pride ourselves on a welcoming, open work environment, free from discrimination. We provide ample opportunities for our support team to learn new skills and grow as we do.

WE CARE ABOUT OUR PLANET

Low Carbon Footprint

Single sourcing in Peru means almost all our components are produced in the same country, greatly reducing the carbon footprint within the supply chain.

Biodegradable Components

Alpaca wool is a natural fiber and as such biodegrades when thrown away. In our Natural Colors Line, we use cotton thread for stitching and labels, which is also biodegradable, as are the natural dyes. The zips, elastic bands, and socks, still have synthetic components, but we are working to find suitable alternatives.

Biodegradable Garments

Using natural fibers AND natural dyes in our Natural Colors Line means the fabric is fully biodegradable. Since they have no other components, our naturally colored shirts, neck gaiters & beanies, are 100% biodegradable and leave no trace when composted.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

We use minimal packaging when we ship our clothes to you, so you won’t find a bag in a box, stuffed with bubble wrap, inside another bag... Instead, we ship your garments to you in one, biodegradable bag.

Arms of Andes recognizes that we have to put the people who work with us, the animals that provide our raw materials, and the environment in which we all live, first. We will continue to improve our production and supply chains to ensure fair wages and a good standard of living for everyone involved, as well as ensure we are the most sustainable and eco-friendly outdoor brand.
